Housing in Sharjah

Dubai’s neighbouring emirate, Sharjah, is an attractive location for many mainly due to the significantly lower rents, which can be up to half what you’d pay in Dubai. As you’d expect in any city, there’s a wide range of accommodation options, from small apartments to big villas.

Downtown Sharjah is all high-rise apartment blocks. Some have been around a few years and so facilities will be a little basic. Newer blocks command higher rents. As you venture out of town there are some big independent villas, and smaller, older villas too.

A new one bedroom flat would cost you around Dhs.4,000 for example, and in the range of Dhs.5,000 to Dhs.7,000, you will be able to find a good-sized apartment with two rooms, while a three-bedroom villa can be found for Dhs.150,000.

Al-Buhaira Corniche is a good place to look around for residences. The prices of apartments here tend to be on the higher end of the scale but the area is clean and well-kept, and in close proximity to the commercial and business district. The Al Majaz area is another good choice, with a park, plenty of good restaurants and all kinds of shops nearby, and a lagoon close by.
